We have successfully completed a number of projects for Sony over the past few years having built a solid project management reputation for successful delivery as a part of their professional services capability. Our engagement has often commenced by completing the proposal management phase often being requested by the end client to then manage the delivery.
Some of the team have recently completed project management & professional services assignments having been deployed in Doha, Qatar where we provided Programme Management services to the Sony Professional Service Business Unit as part of the Senior Leadership Team for Project & Programme Delivery.
This project management & professional services engagement was to manage the implementation of the Central Transmission, Programme Material Delivery as well as the Global Media Management Systems for the Middle East's broadcaster Al Jazeera.
Our project management team were deployed on behalf of Sony to provide professional services in which to manage the technical fit-out for the new Sky Studio's Harlequin One building at their Osterley campus in London. This was to be a brand new, start of the art, five storey 23,000m2 technical building to house Sky's Broadcast & Sports Departments, providing a 21st century state of the art media facility.
Largest UK Broadcaster with an objective to relocate all of it’s recording, post production & transmission facilities into a purpose built facility including :
● 8 state of the art naturally ventilated studios & 182 Avid open-plan edit desks
● A 700 server data centre comprising 1000 racks of equipment (2Kw per rack)
● Inter-site cross campus connectivity including lines to their Chilworth uplink.
This facility became the most sustainable broadcasting, studio & data centre building ever designed, the only one of it’s kind in Europe as well as the most technologically advanced - It completely changed the way Sky worked as well as the scope of the content in which they delivered.
Our project management team were deployed on behalf of Sony to provide professional services in which to manage the migration of MBC's entire broadcast facilities from London to new purpose built facilities in Dubai, UAE as well as moving from tape to a digital file based workflow. This was to be the first private free to air satellite broadcaster in the Arab World offering 10 television channels as well as 2 radio stations.
It enabled MBC to move closer to their target audience with the supportive advantages of Dubai’s established stature as a major hub for business, finance and services, benefiting from operating in the midst of a vast concentration of regional and international advertising agencies, production companies and other related media organisations.
As a result of the successful completion of the project it enabled the operational vision that at the end of the day MBC are an Arab company primarily from the Gulf, so it was apt that they returned to the Gulf allowing them to be closer to their core audience which meant it was more economical to run operations from Dubai than from London.
Our experience of managing large scale transformation programmes with project management & professional services were called upon when the Swiss broadcaster chose Sony's award-winning network production platform to streamline it's operation across Switzerland.
With the ability to quickly ingest, share, edit and publish any content to any platform is the perfect platform to deploy an ‘always on’ journalism model, where there is appetite for 24/7 news across multiple platforms and formats.
Having the advantage of our agile project management & professional services delivering a web-based production tool allowed the Swiss broadcaster to share material between the entire SRG entities immediately having only had to ingest the content once.
Given our previous project management & professional services experience having implemented a similar system for Sky, we were engaged to provide agile project management services by leading the delivery team for this modernisation programme to deliver a new strategic business advertising solution initiative as a part of ITV’s Corporate Transformation programme.
The live system at the time was built 30 years ago & had stood the test of time, however, was not capable of being developed to enable the demands of a modern day system & enhanced functionality to improve the capability to ensure ITV's competitive advantage in a new resilient system architecture as a requirement.
We implemented agile project management professional services with an Agile software delivery team & methodology function in order to deliver the ATS Modernisation Programme – This enabled strategic iterative product development & migration to support the business to enable future growth & a competitive advantage, which given the demands in the market they achieved.
Today’s media environment is challenging, advertisers want placement across multiple delivery modes — traditional broadcast, digital, new media, mobile, and more. Campaigns are becoming increasingly complex, advertisers are demanding new levels of accountability & Sky needed a new system in order to maintain their market place position.
This engagement was initially a professional services one in which the business requirements & workflow were captured with agile project management in order to establish the "as-is" position, a further phase compiled the requirements for the intended "to-be" which once signed-off by the business lead us into going out to market by way of a request for proposal.
A vendor was successfully chosen, a team was selected & a project initiated. We deployed project management professional services & worked with the chosen vendor to produce all of the requirements documentation, evaluated the functional specification which led into a 2 year software development delivery phase with agile project management, through testing, into deployment & eventual cutover from the existing to the new system extremely successfully.
